Fine Music Radio celebrates the Arts by broadcasting Live from the Hermanus FynArts Festival

FMR OUTSIDE BROADCAST

As South Africa’s only radio station broadcasting from a cultural centre, Artscape, Fine Music Radio (FMR) enjoys daily engagement with artists across disciplines – from music and dance to visual art and literature. This close connection is reflected in programmes such as Cape Diary, Arts Round-Up, Book Choice and FMR’s monthly newsletter, Opus. This is the second consecutive year that FMR is at the FynArts Festival broadcasting live from the Burgundy Restaurant. Rodney Trudgeon will present Rodney’s Classic Morning, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. He also presents Diary, where he chats with festival artists and brings listeners a taste of the festival atmosphere as it unfolds. As a community bound by a shared love of classical music, jazz and the arts, the festival provides the perfect opportunity to connect with listeners. Adding to this celebration of the arts, our Book Choice editor, Paige Nick, has curated all the books, authors and discussions for the Hermanus FynArts Festival. Rodney Trudgeon celebrates 50 years as a broadcaster this year – a career in which he has dedicated himself to making classical music accessible, engaging and relevant. Rodney joined FMR in 2005 and also presents People of Note. He was inducted into the Liberty Radio Awards Hall of Fame in 2019. His book, Rodney Trudgeon’s Concert Notes – A Selection of Favourite Masterpieces, is published by Jonathan Ball Publishers.
