FIBER ART EXHIBITION
DREAMS
Curated by Dal Botha
Open daily: 9.00 - 17.00
Venue: Overstrand Education Hub
Dreams are a gateway to the subconscious mind, weaving together a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations, much like the creative process of art. This exhibition of mainly 3D fibre art sculptures, displays versatility, imagination and creativity in the use of textiles.

Berdine van der Mescht
Born in the Eastern Cape, I studied teaching at Stellenbosch and later pursued sculpture and painting. Inspired by nature, I work intuitively with various mediums, focusing on grass in recent years. Exploring plant materials, I embrace a conceptual approach.

Dal Botha
Inspired by nature, I capture the sea’s colors and movement in my designs. Living in various countries has shaped my artistic journey, with diverse cultures influencing my work as a fibre artist.

Gerda Mohr
As a fibre artist, I explore wool’s unique properties, creating 3D forms with silk, fabric, glass, and stones. Working with raw wool for 20+ years still amazes me. Combining felt and embroidery offers endless creative possibilities.

Ina Meyer
I made my first quilt in 1977 and was hooked after my first patchwork course. Teaching since 1987, I’ve exhibited globally, judged competitions, and served in quilt guilds. A Master Quilter, I received the SAQG Pro Dedicate award in 2022.

Jeanne de Beer
Primarily self-taught, my curiosity drives my creative journey. Time at Ronzwa Art School honed my skills, and art became my focus after a corporate career. I explore free-motion stitching, repurposing textiles to create art that merges material, color, and form.

Katherine Harmer Fox
Kathryn Harmer Fox, a multimedia artist specializing in textiles, draws with her sewing machine, using thread like graphite. Her acclaimed work has been exhibited worldwide, and she teaches workshops locally and internationally.

Keiskamma
Mari Claase, a full-time fibre artist, explores color, texture, and intricate design in portraits, nature, abstract, and political storytelling. A national teacher and exhibitor, she won a World 1st for Best Use of Colour in Houston, USA (2001).

Lesley Jurgens
Inspired by nature, I embrace color, organic shapes, and texture. Layering adds depth to my storytelling, with colors ranging from bold to subtle. Constantly asking “what if?” fuels my creative exploration and artistic journey.
