Maruanda, a full-time artist from Prince Albert, is inspired by Kintsugi.

Maruanda is a self-taught thread artist dividing her time between Prince Albert in the Karoo and Cape Town. She began thread art in 2017 and has since developed her skills, becoming a full-time artist. Her current work is inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken items to create beauty.
For the past four years, Maruanda has been part of the Prince Albert Art Community and Open Studios, with her work permanently exhibited at the Prince Albert Gallery. Her pieces are collected locally and internationally. She has also exhibited at Mok Gallery, Kamers Vol Geskenke, Weltevrede Fig Farm, Art B Gallery, and Kanonkop Wine Estate.
