Ian Hunter commenced his career in the art world with two years at the Ann Bryant National Gallery in East London. He has built his reputation as a knowledgeable South African art specialist through nine years’ experience as Senior Painting Specialist at Stephan Welz & Co in association with Sotheby’s. He played a significant role in the Kahn Sale in 2007, which set a new benchmark for South African art in terms of catalogue articles and values achieved. For the past six years he has acted as an independent art advisor and consultant, assisting and advising private and corporate clients in building their collections by buying and selling wisely.
Ian is also a practicing painter and graphic artist and brings his passion for art through a personal appreciation of the language of expression.
