With the FynArts Festival Orchestra and soloist Emmanuel Bach (violin) conducted by Richard Cock.
Sincere thanks to David and Sal Carter, Patrons of FynArts, for their generous support of the Opening Concert.

Hermanus FynArts is thrilled to present the outstanding young violonist, Emmanuel Bach, who will be joining the FynArts Festival Orchestra for the Opening Concert. Based in the UK, Emmanuel regularly performs with esteemed conductors in Europe, the UK, USA and South Africa, including at the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival.

The concert starts with the short and bustling Symphony no 4 by Mozart, followed by his Violin Concerto no 5. The most elaborate and mature of Mozart’s five violin concertos, this piece contains Turkish episodes, linking it to the Turkish invasion of Austria, and Janissary military music… Mozart was always at the forefront of innovation!

After the interval the orchestra plays Schubert’s charming Symphony no 5, the joyful and most popular of his early symphonies.
